How a First Gig Feels

Have you ever thought about what it would be like to play for your first ever gig? If you're in a band, do you remember what it was like?

Playing a first gig was exactly what Thrasherwolf did last night (01/03/2018). It was an open mic night at The Oak in Kingston and there were many others acts alongside them. The genres of music ranged from soul to thrash metal (which is the genre of Thrasherwolf).

Thrasherwolf were the third act to perform Thursday evening. Most of the acts were already known to the audience, however a lot of family and friends came down to see Thrasherwolf's first gig and support them.

By the time it was their turn to perform, the nerves had worn off and they were very much looking forward to getting on stage. The band played three songs, all of which were their own songs. It began with 'Vortex', followed by 'Blood Moon' and ended with 'Vermilion Steel'.

I was told that the regular customers at the bar came over to watch Thrasherwolf, which apparently they don't do. Throughout their performance, there were cheers from the crowd and many people were filming and taking photos.

For a first gig, they performed very well and for the people who were watching, it seemed like something very different from what they are used to watching. The audience enjoyed their performance so much, they asked for an encore!

Jack Saunders, the guitarist said 'playing that gig was one of the most incredible experiences of my life!'

Dan Lucas, singer and guitarist said 'so proud to be in Thrasherwolf with such talented musicians and amazing friends'.

I am very excited to see Thrasherwolf perform again, they have been invited back to The Oaks open mic night in the future! Here are some images from last nights performance.
